Park Cities Preservation Society Scholarship: "Shaping Our Future from the Past"

Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society Donates $50,000 to Endowment at Highland Park Education Foundation
“Shaping the Future of Our Past”

For the past four years, the Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society (PCHPS) has strengthened its dedication to education within the Park Cities area. In 2011, the board decided to channel proceeds from the Historic Home Tour and the Distinguished Speaker Luncheon to establish an endowed scholarship through the Highland Park Education Foundation, aimed at supporting a deserving graduating senior from Highland Park High School. This annual scholarship is awarded to students with a keen interest in fields such as architecture, history, decorative arts, or other classical disciplines that align with the organization’s commitment to historic preservation.

The PCHPS and its supporters successfully reached an initial target of $100,000 for the scholarship fund by 2014. The additional $50,000 contribution in 2015 brings the total Endowment with the Foundation to $150,000. Efforts are now being made to further enhance the scholarship program and collaborate with the school district to highlight the importance of education while fostering an appreciation for the rich heritage of the Park Cities community.
