MAWS_E5tgHb2nqNdnUpW7vPv5-z1yY2N-mLHX-AilBgFounded in 1982, Rainbow Days, Inc. (RDI) began as a vital support network for children affected by alcoholism. Recognizing an overwhelming demand, RDI quickly expanded its reach to schools, shelters, and community centers. In addition to its initial focus, RDI now offers a comprehensive range of prevention programs addressing issues related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

The Children, Youth and Family Services (CYFS) branch of RDI delivers essential life skills training to families and young individuals coping with high-risk conditions across various settings, including homeless shelters, domestic violence centers, after-school initiatives, recreational facilities, and schools situated in Dallas, Collin, Rockwall, and Denton Counties.

Weekly support sessions led by counselors and volunteers provide crucial coping strategies for both children and their families.

These initiatives equip young individuals with the tools necessary to manage the daily challenges associated with homelessness, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle.

On April 24, 2015, Rainbow Days will hold its Pot of Gold Luncheon, featuring notable author Jeannette Walls as the keynote speaker. Walls, renowned for her memoir “The Glass Castle,” shares her experiences growing up in a difficult and unstable environment with an alcoholic father and a mentally ill mother. Her memoir highlights, “I lived in a world that any moment could erupt into fire,” illustrating the persistent tension of her childhood.
