Local parents share their preferred family-free vacation spots.
Here’s a summary of their insights:
Turks and Caicos Islands
“With its endless stretches of soft white beaches, stunning turquoise waters, fine dining, charming boutiques, and luxurious hotels, it’s a paradise,” shares Heather Cosmano. She describes their adventure-filled trip that included snorkeling, paddleboarding, and jet skiing. “We explored the world’s third-largest barrier reef, and our captain treated us to fresh conch salads. A delightful school of dolphins even joined us halfway through our tour. For a memorable romantic dinner, I recommend Coco Bistro, but be sure to book ahead,” Heather suggests. Other dining favorites were Infinity Bar at Grace Bay, Mango Reef, Parallel 23, and Da Conch Shack.
Another highlight was biking to the Salt Mills shopping area, a delightful way to enjoy the sun and take in the sights, as the hotel provided the bikes and they opted not to rent a car.”– Heather Cosmano and George Prokos endorse Grace Bay Beach in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
New York, NY
Kay and Robert Tait recommend soaking up a weekend in Manhattan. “The toughest part is deciding how to spend your time amidst so many options,” Kay admits, noting that some highlights include window shopping along 5th Avenue, visiting the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), and enjoying a ride on the Staten Island Ferry for stunning views of the Statue of Liberty.
“We chose to stay on Central Park South, which is our favorite spot so far,” Kay mentions. “It’s comparably quieter than Times Square and offers more activities than Soho. We enjoyed lunch from a local deli, sitting by a park waterfall.”
Europe
“We had an amazing experience sailing on Windstar Cruises from Istanbul to Athens, exploring Turkey and Greece,” shares Wendy. “Being on a smaller luxury ship allowed us access to unique ports that large ships can’t reach. Santorini was my absolute favorite, and I can’t wait to revisit!”

San Francisco, CA
“Our San Francisco trip began in Chinatown, where we discovered a treasure trove of unique jewelry and trinkets. Next, we headed to Fisherman’s Wharf for delicious fish and chips paired with stunning views. Afterward, we visited the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, which boasts breathtaking perspectives all around,” says Lauri. “Then we took a four-day winery tour in Napa Valley.”

Napa Valley
“Napa is our go-to getaway without the kids. The weather is fantastic, and there are endless attractions to explore. We stayed in Yountville, which has a wonderful small-town atmosphere and ample activities within walking distance. Our favorite accommodations are Hotel Yountville and Block Street Hotel, while we love vineyards like Pride, Scribe, Peju, Quintessa, Trefethen, and Kelham. Must-try restaurants include Mustards, Brix, and Bottega, with Elizabeth Spencer and Beau Wine as our preferred tasting rooms.
Handy tip: Always secure a driver for your excursions. We recommend Napa Bee Driven and especially request Donna.”
