This is an ideal moment to revitalize your closet and enhance your wardrobe. Here are some expert tips to create a wardrobe that is both accessible and stress-free.
• Every piece in your closet should be something you LOVE and WEAR.
• Ensure that you can SEE every item in your closet.
• Each item should offer multiple styling options.
Success hinges on two main principles: PURGING and ORGANIZING.
Purge items that…
• No longer fit and haven’t for as long as you can remember. If your weight has stabilized, embrace it and feel confident in your body. If you happen to lose a few pounds, treat yourself to new wardrobe additions.
• Remain unworn for two seasons or more. There’s a reason you haven’t reached for these pieces — they just occupy valuable space in your closet.
• Are faded, worn out, or lackluster. Appreciate the life you got from these items, then bid them farewell.
• Still have tags and haven’t been worn since purchase. We all make fashion mistakes, and the money is already spent. Consider reselling or donating these articles, and let go of any guilt.
• Are kept because they “might” come back in style. While trends do resurface, the latest designs often refresh the old ones. Unless it’s a classic, high-quality piece in great condition, it’s best to let it go.
• Don’t instill positive feelings in you or flatter your figure. Your clothing should enhance your self-esteem.
When in doubt, try the item on. You might rediscover a long-forgotten favorite or, alternatively, can confidently donate it, knowing it will find a new appreciative owner.
Organize your closet by…
• Using matching hangers. It really makes a difference! My favorites are the thin felt varieties. For skirts and pants, I prefer clear plastic hangers with metal clips. Visual appeal enhances your closet experience.
• Segmenting your wardrobe by season. Keep the current season’s pieces front and center, while out-of-season items can be stored out of sight at the back.
• Grouping clothing items by category. Arrange them by sleeve length and color for easier navigation.
• Making everything in the current season easily visible. For instance, store out-of-season shoes and bags in opaque boxes, and keep seasonal pairs on display.
• Maximizing hanging space. The easier it is to see your clothing, the more likely you will wear it. No one enjoys rummaging through a messy drawer!
• Storing sentimental items safely but outside your everyday wardrobe.
Embrace every day with confidence and make dressing enjoyable. If you need help, I’m here for you! I can assist in deciding what to keep or toss, shop for necessary wardrobe pieces, and help create outfits blending old favorites with new finds. My goal is to ensure you look and feel fantastic.
