Preparation time: 30 minutes
Yields: 4 servings
Ingredients for French Toast:
4 large eggs
2 cups half-and-half
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 loaf of Nature’s Own Butterbread*
Ingredients for Bananas Foster Sauce:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 bananas, sliced lengthwise and cut into quarters
To prepare the French toast: In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla until well combined.
In a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat, melt the butter.
Soak each slice of bread in the egg mixture until thoroughly coated (repeat for a second dip). Place them on the griddle and cook until each side is golden brown.
To make the Bananas Foster sauce: In a saucepan, melt the butter with the brown sugar, then stir in the cinnamon. Once the mixture has melted into a caramel, add the quartered bananas.
Continuously spoon the sauce over the bananas as they cook.
Serve the French toast with a generous spoonful of the banana sauce on each stack.
NOTE:
*This recipe for Bananas Foster French Toast features Nature’s Own Butterbread, which has partnered with Make-A-Wish to contribute a donation of $500,000 aimed at supporting wish kids through 2026.
Since its inception in 1980, the global nonprofit has fulfilled over 375,000 wishes for children with serious illnesses across the U.S., providing them with the strength and hope to combat their health challenges. These granted wishes can profoundly impact families, fostering a sense of normality that resonates throughout communities.
In celebration of this collaboration, the Slice of Hope Campaign was launched, which includes in-store displays and a digital “Well Wish Wall” enabling shoppers to share their well wishes for children to see.
“We feel truly privileged to join forces with Make-A-Wish on this significant two-year initiative, pledging to help fulfill life-changing wishes. Together, we aspire to inspire and spread kindness, one wish at a time.”
Krystle Farlow, Senior Director of Brand Management, Nature’s Own
